Aluminum Wire Copper Pigtails
Aluminum wiring was commonly used in homes built in the Lower Mainland between the mid 1960s and late 1970s. Aluminum wiring itself is not automatically unsafe, though the hazard comes at the connection point of receptacles, switches, light fixtures, and breakers. A cost effective and safe solution is to install copper pigtails at all connections. This effectively eliminates the hazards of aluminum wiring and allows your home to be safe and insurable.
